New event at Children’s National Medical Center honors nurse authors

At Children’s National Medical Center in Washington, D.C., a new event has been created — a Celebration of Scholarly Writing in Nursing — to annually recognize scholarly writing by nurses.

Three groups, the Department of Nursing Research and Quality Outcomes, the Department of Professional Practice, and the hospital’s Pediatric Nurse Journal, combined efforts to create this new event, which honored 18 authors of 25 articles published in 2012.

The 18 authors were Elizabeth Bradshaw Mikula, RN, MSN, CPN; Gretchen Brandon, RN, MSN, APRN, NNP-BC, NE-BC; Suzanne Feetham, RN, PhD, FAAN; Chris Guelcher, RN, MS, PNP-BC; Celia Henderson, RN, BSN, CDE, CPT; Pamela S. Hinds, RN, PhD, FAAN; Susan Keller, MLS; Katherine Patterson Kelly, RN, PhD; Valere Lemon, RN, MBA; Johanna Menard, RN, BSN, CPN; Jeanne Pettinichi, BSN, RN, CPEN, CPN, Simmy Randhawa DNP, MBA, MS, RN, NE-BC, CPN, Kathy Ann Sheehy, MSN, APRN, PCNS-BC, RN-BC, May-Britt Sten, MSN, RN-BC, Connie Trexler, RN, CPN, Ginikanwa Ukpabi, RN, MSN, MPH, FNP-BC; Leilani Wagner, RN, MSN, FNP-BC; and Anne Watson, RN, PhD, BS.
