More than 350 faculty, students, alumni and friends of the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey, Newark, gathered Dec. 10 to celebrate the 20th anniversary of the UMDNJ-School of Nursing at an awards dinner at the Mayfair Farms in West Orange, N.J.
The theme of the dinner, held to commemorate the schools establishment on Dec. 10, 1992, was “Looking to the Future. Building on the Past.” The school used the occasion to honor 25 individuals who exemplified service to the school and nursing.
“We were gratified by the presence of such distinguished individuals at our schools anniversary celebration,” Susan Salmond, RN, EdD, FAAN, dean and professor, said in a news release. “Each honoree exemplifies the highest ideals of leadership and service to others, ideals that form the core of our schools mission and the heart of the profession of nursing.”
Honorees included UMDNJ Interim President Denise V. Rodgers, MD, senior healthcare executives and top leaders of national professional associations and philanthropic organizations.
The event was hosted by the school of nursing in partnership with the UMDNJ-School of Nursing Alumni Association and the Foundation for Healthcare Advancement.
