Mercy Medical Center in Rockville Centre, N.Y., has appointed Beth Vlahavas, RN, MSN, vice president of patient care services and CNO.

Vlahavas had been serving as Mercy?s interim CNO since May.

According to a news release, Vlahavas is a seasoned nursing professional with more than a decade of administrative leadership experience and nearly two decades of clinical expertise. The quality of the nursing care provided under her leadership is one of the key factors in Mercy?s recent designation by U.S. News and World Report as one of the top hospitals in New York state.

She came to Mercy in December 2008 as the nursing director for the ED and behavioral health. According to a news release, Vlahavas has a strong background in both of these areas, as well as years of experience in pediatrics, med/surg, critical and ambulatory care.
