Lancaster (Pa.) General Hospital, in collaboration with the Rich Leadership Academy for Healthcare Excellence, recently hosted a nursing leadership conference, “From Transactional to Transformational Leadership through Executive Storytelling,” to help nurse leaders gain perspective and insight about the issues and challenges of a healthcare environment in transition, according to a news release.
“This conference was designed to be an open dialogue and discussion on topics facing our nursing leaders and to provide them with the tools necessary to create and encourage change,” Tracey R. Mousley, RN, hospital nurse manager and conference coordinator, said in the release.
The conference featured keynote speaker Victoria Rich, RN, PhD, FAAN, CNE and associate executive director at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia. Rich is recognized for her leadership in healthcare, business and nursing education, as well as for her work in patient safety and cultural diversity.
More than 60 nurse leaders from LGH attended. The conference began with opening remarks by Rich, who was followed by others in the field discussing diverse topics such as time management and resource allocation.
The conference was the result of a $10,000 grant awarded to Mousley for her role in the advancement of nursing leadership.
