On July 26, Jersey City (N.J.) Medical Center held a Magnet fair. The theme, “The Journey to Magnet Re-designation, Come Travel with Us,” was on clinical quality and safety initiatives driven by the hospital’s nurses to maintain nursing excellence.

Exhibits included demonstrations by the hospital’s clinical ladder nurses on projects they have spearheaded that embody the Magnet components of Exemplary Professional Practice, Structural Empowerment, New Knowledge and Innovations, Transformational Leadership and Empirical Outcomes.

Among the projects were studies tracking the need for a recovery nurse at night, improving nursing handoffs in the ICU and better recognition of organ tissue issues in the ED.
