Which courses should I take to become an IV nurse?
Dear Donna replies:
I suggest that you contact home infusion companies, home care companies and IV nurses in some area hospitals. Find out what they require for a nurse to work in this specialty, as it might vary from employer to employer.
Also contact the Infusion Nurses Society (www.ins1.org) and do some informational interviewing (www.Nurse.com/Cardillo/Interviewing) with members and officers.
You might consider one of the IV courses offered by Gannett Education. See what’s coming up at www.Nurse.com/CEseminars. Start with the IV certification seminar if you dont already have that basic knowledge and training. That is something that will enhance the practice of any nurse who works with any type of infusion therapy.
