All Children’s Hospital, St. Petersburg — Hella Ewing, RN, BSN, MSM, was named CNO. Ewing worked for more than a decade at Sacred Heart Health System in Pensacola.

Baptist Health, Jacksonville — Diane Raines, RN, CNO, graduated from the Johnson & Johnson-Wharton Fellows Program in Management for Nurse Executives, a three-week management education program that provides participants with critical business and management skills.

Obed Fajardo, RN

Oak Hill Hospital, Spring Hill — RNs Obed Fajardo, Opal Jarrett and Christina Montgomery were announced as Star Associates for August. Each month hospital associates are chosen in a process that involves nominations and voting by their peers, patients, families and physicians.

Jessica McAfee, RN

Bethesda Healthcare System, Boynton Beach — Jessica McAfee, RN, MSN, FNP-BC, ARNP, was appointed as a Certified MammaCare Clinical Breast Examiner. The designation means she has the ability to perform standardized breast examinations and the skills to detect breast lesions.

University of South Florida, Tampa — Jessica Brumley, CNM, ARNP, and Cecilia Jevitt, CNM, PhD, will participate in The Honor Society of Nursing, Sigma Theta Tau International’s Maternal Child Health Leadership Academy, an 18-month program that prepares nurses to lead healthcare teams to improve maternal child health in North America.

Christina Montgomery, RN

Palm Beach Gardens Medical Center, West Palm Beach — Patricia Theiss, RN, was presented with the center’s 2010 Nurse of the Year award for 30 years of service excellence. Theiss won the award based on her commitment, clinical skills and ability to provide excellent customer service.

Florida Center for Nursing, Orlando — Mary Lou Brunell, RN, MSN, executive director, has been appointed to serve on the National Advisory Council on Nurse Education Practice. NACNEP advises the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services and Congress on policy issues such as nurse work-force supply, education and practice improvement.

Opal Jarrett, RN

West Boca Medical Center, Boca Raton — Margaret Neddo, RN, BSN, was appointed ED director. Neddo comes to WBMC after 27 years at Delray Medical Center.

Delray Medical Center, Delray Beach — The center announced its second quarter 2010 DAISY Award finalists and winner. Sherry Custary, RN, was named the winner. Maureen Miller, RN, Bonnie Holley, RN, and Esther Bien-Aime, RN, were among the finalists.

Take Care Private Duty Home Health Care, Sarasota — Susanne S. Wise, RN, MBA, was chosen to be a member of the newly-formed University of South Florida Sarasota-Manatee College of Business advisory board.
