Six nurses were the recipients of the Clinical Excellence Award that is presented annually to the nurse who best exemplifies selfless dedication, compassion and nursing pride systemwide. Clinical Excellence Award winners included Caroline S. Burnett, ARNP, Ambulatory Care Center; Mauva Beharie, RN, Holtz Children’s Hospital and Womens Hospital Center; Elizabeth Goncalves, RN, Jackson Memorial Hospital; Sheila DMetayer, RN, Jackson North Medical Center; Isabel M. Baldomero, RN, Jackson South Community Hospital; and Jacqueline Panton, RN, Jackson Mental Health Hospital. The nurses must demonstrate excellence in their job performance, proven by a consistent, above-average evaluation. Arthur Pabst, RN, associate nurse manager in the Adult ICU, Jackson Mental Health Hospital, was presented with an Achiever award in April. Achiever awards are presented to employees who best exemplify the values of Jackson Health System: service excellence and quality, commitment, compassion, teamwork and communications, integrity and stewardship, respect, confidentiality, and who celebrate the cultural diversity of our patients and staff. Pabst was nominated by an employee for his commitment. The employee honored for May 2010 was Denise Crooks, RN, a clinical staff nurse in the Stroke Center at Jackson Memorial Hospital. Crooks was nominated by the wife of a patient for her compassion. Her nominator said, She is one of a kind; she loves what she does and it shows.
