St. Joseph’s Recognizes RNs for Excellent Service

In May, St. Joseph’s Healthcare System celebrated the services provided by nurses at St. Joseph’s Regional Medical Center/St. Joseph’s Children’s Hospital in Paterson, N.J., St. Joseph’s Wayne (N.J.) Hospital and St. Vincent’s Nursing Home in Cedar Grove, N.J. Maria Brennan, RN, MSN, CPHQ, chief nursing officer of the health system and vice president of patient care services at SJRMC, presented the 2010 Nursing Excellence Award to seven nurses selected by their peers.

The 2010 St. Joseph’s Healthcare System Nursing Excellence Award recipients include Judy Petrazzuolo, RN, maternal/child division, SJRMC/SJCH; Lynn Cordova, RN, SVNH; Richard Sancho, RN, med/surg division, SJRMC; Carmen Ortega, RN, perioperative services, SJRMC; Barbara Wojtal, RN, ambulatory care division, SJCH; Chris Koenig, RN, SJWH; and Randall Mihalik, RN, critical care division, SJRMC. The awards were presented at the annual Nursing Excellence Awards presentation during National Nurses Week.

Joann Duffy, APN, CCRN, of the critical care unit at SJWH, received the 16th annual Ursula Cahsens Critical Care Excellence Award for displaying exceptional leadership, patient advocacy, compassion and loyalty to the staff, unit and hospital. The hospital also recognized Kathy Padula, RN, BSN, with the seventh annual Kathleen Houlihan Recognition Award for Telemetry and Progressive Care.
