Pardee RNs Receive Honors

Pardee Hospital, Hendersonville, N.C. — Jean Sitton, RN, was recently named Pardee Associate of the Year. Sitton received a $500 check at a special awards ceremony and dinner. According to Sitton’s fellow associates, she is dedicated, highly skilled, compassionate and caring. In the past year, Sitton has researched and developed a personal health record that can be used by patients to keep all of their pertinent health information, including a current medication list, advanced directives and medical history.

Sigrun Mapes, RN

She provided educational sessions for the community at the Pardee Health Education Center as well as assisted living facilities and community organizations to promote the use of the personal health record. Sitton also has dedicated a great deal of time, energy and effort toward advancing nursing research. She will co-chair the newly created Nursing Research Council. Sigrun Mapes, RN, was a runner-up for the award.

Susan Lawrence, RN, became a certified occupational hearing conservationist. The credential establishes a high level of training and practice.

Angela Hollingsworth, RN

A Shooting Star award was presented to Angela Hollingsworth, RN. The award recognizes Pardee associates who consistently go above and beyond in their jobs and serve as role models to their fellow associates. Winners are nominated by their co-workers to receive the award. Hollingsworth’s co-workers say her caring nature and compassion are unsurpassed, as recognized by the many cards and letters she receives from patients and families. Hollingsworth recently became an ACLS instructor and holds two national certifications in progressive critical care nursing and med/surg.
