I want to become an LPN. How do I get started?

Question:

Dear Donna,

I’m a recent graduate (CNA) and I want to become an LPN. Do you have any suggestions on how to get started?

Carol

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Carol,

Do an Internet search to find LPN programs in your state. But check with your state board of nursing to be sure the program you choose is accredited. Find your state board at www.NCSBN.org/515.htm.

You also can consult the National Federation of LPNs at www.NFLPN.org. If your state has a chapter (www.NFLPN.org/stateEvent.php), contact them for additional advice and resources.

Onward and upward!
Donna
