Englewood Hospital Earns Bariatric Surgery Award

Englewood (N.J.) Hospital and Medical Center was named a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic and Bariatric Surgery. The designation recognizes surgical programs with a demonstrated track record of favorable patient outcomes in bariatric surgery.

Offering gastric bypass surgery, same-day minimally invasive gastric banding and sleeve gastrectomy, the hospital also offers free, informational seminars to prepare prospective patients and answer their questions; size-friendly accommodations, including extra-wide patient/visitor seating and wheelchairs and safe-patient lifting and moving equipment; and post-surgery support, such as nutrition and exercise guidance, ongoing support groups and compassionate follow-up care.

“The bariatric program at Englewood Hospital uses a rigid and systematic approach to ensure we provide the highest quality care to our patients,” Ibrahim Ibrahim, MD, bariatric surgery medical director, said in a news release. “We’re honored to receive this designation, which underscores our ongoing commitment to helping our patients overcome the health risks caused by morbid obesity and live longer, happier lives.”
