Inflatable Heart Beats its Way Into California

Heart disease is the No. 1 cause of death for men and women in the U.S. but can be prevented through education, proper diet and exercise. A new traveling exhibit, MEGA Heart, is coming to California with the aim to teach heart disease prevention through an interactive, walk-through tour.

The MEGA Heart is the world’s first inflatable heart designed to educate and demonstrate the effects, prevention, and treatment of heart disease, according to a news release.

After stops this year that drew thousands of visitors, the news release states, the MEGA Heart heads to the West Coast. The exhibit will be open Sept. 12-13 at Orange Coast Memorial Medical Center in Fountain Valley, Calif.

Education garnered from the exhibit include cardiovascular functions, examples of heart disease variations, and the latest medical treatments for heart problems.

Presented by Medical Inflatable Exhibits Inc., the MEGA Heart is a 12-foot-tall replica of the human heart. Visitors enter the exhibit through the largest vein that feeds the heart, the superior vena cava, and exit through the largest artery that leaves the heart, the aorta. During the tour, they learn about cardiovascular functions, observe examples of various types of heart disease, and read about the latest medical treatments for heart problems.
