Daily News: Women’s Wider Waists Boost Asthma Risk

Women with extra weight around their waists are more likely to develop asthma, according to a new study published the journal Thorax. The California Teachers Study of more than 88,000 women found that those with a waist circumference of about 35 inches, even if they are of normal weight, face a 37% greater risk of contracting asthma.

The study also noted that asthma risks doubled for obese women and more than tripled among the extremely obese.
