Nurses Grace ANNA Symposium In San Diego, Receive Awards

The American Nephrology Nurses’ Association recently held its 40th National Symposium in San Diego. More than 1,000 nephrology nurses and healthcare professionals convened to learn the latest treatments and practice innovations. ANNA also inducted new officers for 2009-10 and distributed more than $108,000 in scholarships, grants, and awards.

Sheila Doss, RN, CNN, CCRA, was inducted as an officer of the Western chapter. Doss is nursing director of research at Satellite Healthcare in San Jose. Doss also received the Kelly McManus Memorial Award.

Nitaya Soeprono, RN, BC, CNN, received the Representation Award. Soeprono is Dialysis/Aphresis Charge Nurse at Loma Linda University Medical Center in Colton, Calif.

Laurie Carlson, MSN, RN, received the Nephrology Nursing Journal Writer’s Award for Clinical Practice. Carlson is Transplant Study Coordinator, University of California — San Francisco (“Clinical Management of the HIV-Positive Kidney Transplant Recipient,” November-December 2008).
