Officers Inducted, Awards Presented at ANNA Symposium

The Northern Lights Chapter in Alaska received the Chapter Recruitment and Retention Award for the Western region.

The American Nephrology Nurses’ Association recently held its 40th National Symposium in San Diego.

More than 1,000 nephrology nurses and healthcare professionals convened to learn the latest treatments and practice innovations.

ANNA also inducted new officers for 2009-10 and distributed more than $108,000 in scholarships, grants, and awards.

Niki Kobes, BSN, RN, CNN, was inducted as an officer in the Western region. Kobes is clinical manager at Fresenius Medical Services Anchorage, Alaska.

Captain Gerald Coffee, U.S. Navy (Ret.) and Vietnam POW, delivers the Janel Parker Memorial Keynote Address. Focusing on leadership and teamwork, Captain Coffee wove his experiences of hope and survival with ways to lead others effectively.

The Desert Vista Chapter in Phoenix received the Regional Chapter of the Year Award, and the Northern Lights Chapter in Anchorage, Alaska, received the Regional Chapter Recruitment and Retention Award.
