Hudson Valley Career Fair to Showcase CE, Job Openings, and More

Get up-to-the-minute information on hot nursing topics while perusing open positions and networking with recruiters at the Hudson Valley/Connecticut Career Fair July 31 at the Marriott Westchester Tarrytown in New York. Recruiters will be available to talk with job candidates in the exhibit hall, which will be open from 9:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. RNs also can earn up to four contact hours by attending continuing education sessions from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m.

8:30 to 10 a.m. | Medical Error Disclosure and Medication Error Overview — Nicholas Lorenzo, MD

The Institute of Medicine estimates nearly 100,000 U.S. patients die each year as a result of medical errors. This seminar provides an overview of this problem and outlines ways nurses can decrease their risk. When medical errors occur, every healthcare facility should have a protocol to disclose the errors to patients and their families. Such a disclosure, if properly performed, will decrease the chance of healthcare litigation, allow the patient and/or family to move on from these events, and provide an opportunity for the healthcare provider to improve quality of care.

Noon to 1 p.m. | Concepts in Healthcare Leadership — Nicholas Lorenzo, MD

This session outlines the major healthcare leadership and management concepts that can help students become more effective in those roles. In addition, this course was created by a distinguished group of healthcare leaders with more than 200 years of healthcare senior management experience and is designed to be of benefit to the experienced manager and the healthcare professional who would like to develop these management roles.

2 to 3:30 p.m. | YOU Make It Happen! — Donna Cardillo, RN

Donna Cardillo, RN

Whether nurses are striving for a goal, stuck in a rut, or just trying to get through each day, they have more control over their lives and circumstances than they realize. Cardillo will share winning strategies and will provide attendees with an action plan to overcome obstacles and help them reach their full potential.
