CALNOC Kicks Off Conference

The Collaborative Alliance for Nursing Outcomes, formerly known as the California Nursing Outcomes Coalition, kicked off its 2009 conference July 7 in Long Beach.

Carol Huston, RN, MSN, DPA, FAAN, President Sigma Theta Tau and Professor in the School of Nursing at California State University in Chico.

CALNOC has expanded significantly since it was developed by the Association of California Nurse Leaders and the American Nurses Association — California in 1996.

It now has hospitals in eight states and Sweden participating in collecting nurse sensitive quality indicators. CALNOC’s aim is to assist participating hospitals in using their quality data to optimize nursing care, apply emerging best practice findings to transform patient care quality and safety, and meet the growing need for evidence-based patient care.
