Alexian Brothers Medical Center Celebrates Awards, Recertifications

On March 3, Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, Ill., highlighted the achievements of several units by hosting a celebratory open house in the rotunda. “Because we had all these things to celebrate, we decided to have it in a public place so patients and families could see our success,” said Maureen Roberts, RN, vice president of nursing.

The CVICU and ICU/CCU received the Beacon Award for Critical Care Excellence from the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses. The bariatric surgery department was recertified as a Bariatric Surgery Center of Excellence by the American Society for Metabolic & Bariatric Surgery. The hospital also received the Joint Commission’s disease specific recertification for stroke, acute MI, heart failure, and joint replacement for hips and knees.
