Shore Memorial Nurses Help Deliver Heart-Healthy Services on ‘Heart Day’

Nurses and other health professionals from Shore Memorial Hospital, Somers Point, N.J., were on hand Feb. 5 to offer cardiac and stroke risk assessments during the hospital’s 13th annual “Heart Day.”

Alex Wazeter, RN, right, nurse manager of Shore Memorial’s Neuroscience Unit, shares information about the risk factors and warning signs of stroke with Loretta Foreman of Pleasantville, N.J.

They talked one-on-one with visitors about maintaining a healthy lifestyle and establishing habits to minimize the risks associated with cardiovascular disease.

The Wellness Program’s event provided free blood-glucose and blood-pressure screenings, as well as body fat analysis and body mass index measurement to members of the community.
