Loma Linda University Medical Center has opened a state-of-the-art specialty hospital, which physicians have designed to have amenities like those at a five-star hotel.Each private patient room has an interactive television system, free Wi-Fi Internet access, and chairs that fold out into beds for visitors.
The 28-bed Loma Linda University Heart & Surgical Hospital, which opened Jan. 6, offers cardiac diagnostic services, minimally invasive laparoscopic surgery, urology, and ear, nose, and throat and women’s surgical procedures.
The $110 million, two-story facility has six surgical suites with movable operating tables, adjustable lighting, and overhead booms, as well as two da Vinci surgical robots.
The 20 patient rooms have their own balconies, as well as heavy doors and double-pane glass windows to enhance privacy. Patients have room service, an interactive television system, and free Wi-Fi Internet access. Each room, which is painted with warm hues, also has chairs that fold out into beds for visitors.
The hospital will operate with 125 staff and 85 physicians.
