Daily News: Report Calls for Quicker Processing of Visa Applications

In light of the worsening nationwide nursing shortage, the Office of the Citizenship and Immigration Services Ombudsman has issued a report with recommendations on how the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services can process nurses’ immigrant visa applications more efficiently.

The report, which was delivered to Congress on Dec. 8, suggests that USCIS prioritize the applications without requiring nurses to submit the standard written request to expedite the process.

The CIS Ombudsman also recommends that USCIS centralize the applications at one designated service center and regularly address questions and concerns with the Department of Labor.
