On Sept. 25 and 26, more than 175 nursing executives, administrators, managers, and staff nurses from across the country attended the “Journey to Magnet Excellence” workshop at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, Ill., a Magnet facility.
During the workshop, leaders from healthcare facilities who are just beginning to investigate the journey toward Magnet recognition, as well as those looking for redesignation of the prestigious award, attended poster and breakout sessions highlighting evidence-based practice projects, quality initiatives, and research accomplished by Lutheran General’s nursing associates.A highlight of the two-day event was a panel discussion on the hospital’s Magnet journey led by five hospital nurses representing many roles and perspectives.
“Lutheran General is proud to have been chosen as host of the workshop,” says Julie Schaffner, RN, MSN, FACHE, chief operating officer and chief nurse executive, in a news release. “Our Magnet journey has provided an opportunity for tremendous growth within our nursing associates. We were very happy to share our story with others as they embark upon or continue their own Magnet journey.”
