The Sigma Theta Tau Honor Society of Nursing has added three new awards to its international awards for nursing excellence.
The Helen Henry Excellence of Care Award, established by Bonnie Wesorick, RN, MSN, in memory of her mother, acknowledges nurses with excellent bedside manner. My mother was a loving soul who innately understood the importance of nursing, Wesorick says in a press release.
The Geriatric Nursing Leadership Award, supported by The John A. Hartford Foundation, honors nurses for leadership, vision, and service in geriatric nursing. The award includes a $2,000 stipend.
The Practice/Academe Innovation Collaboration Award will recognize an institution or group committed to optimizing the interaction between nursing practice and academe.
The honor society will present the awards at its 40th Biennial Convention in the fall of 2009.
