Connecticut Department of Public Health Commissioner Robert Galvin, MD, MPH, MBA presented MidState with an official certificate earlier this month, naming the hospital a Primary Stroke Center. MidState employees, physicians and Department of Public Health officials gathered in the hospital Galleria for an official presentation and reception.Dr. Galvin (left) and Chairwoman of the Board of Directors Gail McCormack.
“All of the staff involved showed tremendous support of this initiative and worked diligently to complete the charge placed in front of them. They have all been instrumental to our success and the driving force behind this certification,” says Cindy Russo, Vice President of Patient Care, commenting on MidState’s call to action after having received an invitation to apply for certification late last year.
DPH officials also had the opportunity to tour MidState prior to the certificate presentation, visiting Pavilion D, the hospital’s Stroke Unit, the Emergency Department and Radiology, where Harry Hajedemos, MD, demonstrated an MRA study, which depicts a 3-D image of blocked blood vessels in the brain.
