I have to write an essay as part of an application packet to get into a nursing program, and I am having a hard time putting my thoughts into words. Could please give me some pointers or guide me in the right direction? Here are the questions: Why do you wish to become a nurse? How do you foresee nursing in the future?
Dear Donna replies:
When answering the question, Why do you want to become a nurse? speak from your heart, and tell your story. Write about what drew you to nursing. The words dont have to be perfect. Express your desire to help others, to make a difference in other peoples lives, etc.
For the second question, do an Internet search for The future of nursing, and read a few of the articles that turn up just to get you thinking, but dont plagiarize anything!! You only need to make a general statement about nurses playing a key role in the future and being leaders in healthcare reform, in the promotion of health and wellness, etc.
Talk it all over with a close friend or family member to come up with something you feel comfortable with.
