Nurses Honored For Hospice Work

Pat Mason, RN

Rockport, Texas – Pat Mason, RN, NP, LMSW, has been named Social Worker of the Year for the Texas-New Mexico Hospice Organization.

Mason works for AIM Hospice and has been instrumental in providing end-of-life support services to patients, to families and to the community.

Mason is also a licensed pilot and has fulfilled final wishes of “one more flight” to two patients by arranging flights in a B17 Bomber and a helicopter.

Kirsten Kaae, RN

Denton, Texas – Kirsten Kaae, RN, a hospice nurse with Ann’s Haven VNA in Denton, Texas, has been chosen to receive the Pat McCue/New Orleans Chapter End-of-Life Care Nursing Career Development Award. Kaae has been a hospice nurse with Ann’s Haven VNA for 21 years.

The honor was created by the New Orleans Chapter of the Oncology Nursing Society in memory of Pat McCue-Moran, a leading oncology hospice nurse and member of the organization. The award provides financial assistance to nurses for continuing education to enhance their skills in end-of-life care.
