Cancer Institute Nurse Speaks at ELNEC

Regina S. Cunningham, CNO, Cancer Institute of New Jersey and assistant professor in the Research Division, Department of Family Medicine, at UMDNJ-Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, was among the speakers at the NJ-End-of-Life Nursing Education Consortium (ELNEC) conference. This national education program aims to improve end-of-life care by nurses and is funded by a Robert Wood Johnson Foundation grant.

Promotions at WPHC

Cathy Waters has been promoted to director of Nursing for Medical Surgical Services; Margaret Brock is now nurse manager and Sigrid Stieger is assistant nurse manager of the Medical/Surgical/Oncology Unit; Pat Allinger is the new director of Nursing for Critical Care; and Geri Brooks, director of Senior Services and director of Professional Services, Westchester Caring Services, at White Plains Hospital Center, White Plains, N.Y., has been named a member of the New York State Family Caregiver Council.

Chilton Nurse Speaks

Kathleen Shala

Chilton Memorial Hospital’s Kathleen Shala, Critical Care (r), recently spoke at the NICHE Best Clinical Practices Conference: “Translating Evidence into Practice” in Philadelphia. Shala discussed how Chilton Memorial Hospital, Pompton Plains, N.J., accomplished all of the New Jersey Hospital Association’s goals for reducing pressure ulcers in its two-year Pressure Ulcer Collaborative with NJHA.
