Little Company of Mary Earns Simulation Grant

Torrance, Calif. — Little Company of Mary San Pedro Hospital and Little Company of Mary Hospital Torrance earned a three-year $938,000 grant from UniHealth Foundation in February to fund innovative training for registered nurses and assistive personnel. The simulation-based training is designed to improve clinical competency, cultural sensitivity, communication skills, and teamwork, as well as give bedside nurses the opportunity to validate and enhance their skills, knowledge, and compassion.

The Simulation for Advanced Quality & Safety training will take place at the George W. & Virginia Schneider Institute for Nursing in Torrance and the Little Company of Mary San Pedro Hospital Institute for Nursing. The full-day sessions will be offered 30 days per year to accommodate all nursing staff members at Little Company of Mary’s acute care hospitals and post-acute centers in both San Pedro and Torrance.
