Where can I advertise for a nurse manager?

Question:

Dear Donna,

I just started recruiting for a nurse manager. The position has been open for almost a year. I’ve posted a few ads online, but I haven’t received much response. Do you have any ideas? I’m an in-house, corporate recruiter.

Graciela

Dear Donna replies:

Dear Graciela,

Not every nurse is online yet, and some do not routinely search for jobs online. Print ads are still valuable. Consider speaking with an advertising rep at http://www.helpatnursingspectrum.com. It’s a good idea for you exhibit at Nursing Spectrum/NurseWeek Career Fairs in your area.

Additionally, I would recommend that you contact your local chapters of The American Organization of Nurse Executives . You may be able to sponsor a local meeting or have an exhibit table there. At the very least, you’ll have the opportunity to network — and as a recruiter you know the value of networking. AONE members are nurses who are either in a supervisory, management, or administrative position or aspire to be.

Good Luck!
Donna
