White Plains Hospital Center recently held its second annual Nursing College and Career Day for high school juniors and seniors and college students interested in learning about opportunities in the nursing profession. The program included an overview of nursing, followed by a panel of college admissions representatives from local schools of nursing, who discussed admissions requirements, curricula, and clinical aspects, as well as financial aid and scholarships.
Four nursing students who participated in the Nurse Apprentice Program shared their reasons for entering nursing school. Their eight-week summer apprenticeship has prepared them for returning to the hospital as RNs after completing their studies. A panel of four RNs from the hospital center was on hand to discuss their specialties and clinical experience.
