Volunteer (Unpaid) - Emergency Department

This non-paid position entails volunteering in the Emergency Department assisting in various areas including but not limited to: greeting patients, visitors, and staff; assisting patients with comfort needs (i.e., pillows, water, tissue, wheelchairs, updates, etc.), emotional support and non-nursing functions under the direction/supervision of technical staff. Confidentiality of patients’ identity and health information is a must. The volunteer who will serve in this role must be professional, reliable, mature and flexible and must be at least 16 years of age to meet the needs of this busy department. The volunteer must be able to commit to 16 hours of service per month that will afford them the knowledge of and exposure to an emergency department.
