The Research and Policy Associate is responsible for three interrelated areas of work: advancing the Institute#s research agenda; translating research into publicly accessible materials, institutional practices, and public policy; and developing an extramural grant profile across the Institute#s core areas of Moral Education and Individual Decision-Making, Organizational and Business Ethics, and Civic and Global Ethics. This position reports to the Director and Associate Director of the Institute. The Research and Policy Associate with work in collaboration with faculty, research analysts, and graduate students.
Applicants should have an independent track record of research publications and grants in subjects related to the Institute#s three core areas. They must have demonstrated ability to create, organize, and implement major research projects and to facilitate the research agendas of individual faculty members. They must be able to identify opportunities for collaborative projects, attract faculty interest, and secure external sources of support. Applicants must possess both an understanding of how universities function and entrepreneurial skills in generating and sustaining new initiatives. They must have demonstrated ability to make intellectual and programmatic connections across disciplines. Ideal candidates will have demonstrated ability to forge partnerships between universities and policy-makers, think tanks, non-profits, and businesses.
The Research and Policy Associate is responsible for:
# Research and the development of research products (grants and publications), both individually and in collaboration with Institute faculty and partners.
# Preparing institutional reports, grant applications, and publicly accessible communications based on faculty research in the form of working papers, op-eds, etc.
# Working with Foundation relations in the service of specific research projects.
# Forging partnerships between the Institute and policy-makers, think tanks, non-profits, and businesses that align with research trajectories at the Institute
# Teaching an undergraduate course depending on area of expertise and needs of the Institute.
Education
Master's degree or other advanced degree required. Ph.D. preferred.
Experience
Minimum of three years of applicable experience required.
