Responsibilities:
  • Supervises and assists staff in the delivery of patient care through the nursing process of assessment, planning, intervention, and evaluation.
  • Assists the Department Head in directing the development and evaluation of nursing personnel.
  • Assists the Department Head in preparing and maintaining the operational aspect of the unit.
  • Participates in professional organizations and activities which promote growth and development.
  • Supports Nursing/Hospital philosophy, objectives, and mission.
  • Manages the Nursing Unit in the absence of the Department Head.

 



Qualifications:
  • Graduate of accredited school of nursing (B.S. in nursing preferred)
  • Current Georgia license to practice as a registered nurse.
  • Minimun of 2-3 years of Charge Nurse Experience in Labor and Delivery/APU
  • Minimum of 5 years L&D/APU experience
  • Previous experience at a Level III facility (preferably non-teaching)
  • Mandatory Certifications
    • BLS
    • NPR
    • ACLS (current)
  • Advance or Intermediate AWHONN Fetal monitor Course within the last 2 years
  • Certification in Electronic Fetal Monitoring and/or Inpatient OB preferred
  • Experience in the following areas:
    •  PACU (Post Anesthesia Care Unit) or Surgical patient recovery experience    
    • Initial Newborn Care (Apgar scoring/medication)
    • Circulate Surgical Cases
    • Vaginal Exams
    • Placement of Internal Scalp Electordes
    •  IV Therapy (phlebotomy)
    • Antepartum/High Risk Intrapartum
    • Assist with Epidural placement
