  • Job Summary:

    To fulfill the needs of patients in a variety of age groups, their family members, and the community by performing specialized patient care tasks and functions in accordance with licensure, certification, training, and regulatory requirements. To respond effectively to new and changing working environments. To bear the responsibility and accountability for the specialty nursing care that the patient receives while receiving services from Valley Home Care, Inc.Education:Graduate from an accreditedSchoolofNursing. BSN preferredExperience:2 years of RN experience required plus an additional 2 years of experience in the specialty area. Computer and keyboard skills.- Medical terminology requiredSpecial Skills:Current State of New Jersey license (or legal permission to work from the New Jersey Board of Nursing). Current andvalid CPR certification. Demonstrates effective interaction and communication (oral, writing, presenting) skills. Abilityto work accurately and pay attention to details, often changing from one task to another without loss of efficiency orcomposure. Ability to function competently in stressful situations and a changing work environment related tochanging customer needs. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system; with patients and family members;and with multidisciplinary team members (i.e., physicians, Rehab, etc.). Ability to utilize effective time managementto set priorities, perform job related responsibilities, and respond quickly to emergency situations. Ability to use critical thinking and clinical reasoning skills to effectively problem-solve and deliver care.Supervision Exercised:Functional supervision of the Home Health Aide.Supervision Received:Supervision from the Patient Care Manager and professional and/or technical input from the Nurse Clinician.Working Conditions:Exposure to normal patient care area hazards, infections, puncture wounds, strains and sprains, blood-borne pathogens, HIV related illnesses, and varying noise levels. Requires lifting, pushing or pulling of up to 50-150 pounds occasionally with frequent lifting and carrying of up to 25 pounds; considerable standing, walking, sitting, reaching, filing, typing, and photocopying. Occasional stooping, kneeling, and crouching required. Constant talking and listening requiredClinical Team Specific Requirements:Cardiac/CHF: TVH Basic Arrhythmia Recognition Course, TVH Basic 12 Lead EKG Course, VHC IV Certification Diabetes: Certified Diabetes Educator by the National Certification Board for Diabetes Educators Enterstomal: WOCNCB- Wound/ Ostomy/ Incontinence Nursing Certification by the Wound, Ostomy, and Continence Nursing Certification Board IV: VHC IV Certification required, IV Nurses' Certification by the Intravenous Nurse Oncology: ONS Oncology Certification Psychiatric: ANA Psychiatric Nurses' Certification Rehabilitation: Certified Rehabilitation Registered Nurse by the Rehabilitation Nursing Certification Board Wound: Wound Certification by the WOCNCB
