Summary: To perform surveillance for nosocomial infections on assigned patient care centers and assists in supervision and direction of personnel in infection prevention and control. Education: Graduate from an accredited NLN approved school of nursing. B.S.N. preferred. Experience: RN, Infection Control experience required, CIC certification preferred Minimum two years medical/surgical or critical care experience. Special Skills: Valid and current New Jersey Registered Nurse license. APIC certification in infection control preferred. Substantial communication (oral, written, presentation) and interaction skills required. Intermediate to advance computer skills in word processing, data entry and analysis required. Organization and critical thinking skills (problem solving, time management, priority setting, planning, and clinical reasoning) required. Ability to perform duties and responsibilities promptly and consistently with limited direction in planning and organizing work. Ability judge the appropriate action in response to changes, circumstances, and problems. Ability to work cooperatively within the health-system and team members (i.e., physicians, Rehab, Respiratory, DI, Lab, etc.). Ability to manage a changing work environment. Supervision Expected: Functional supervision throughout the Hospital in area of infection control and volunteers. Supervises department Administrative Assistant in Director''s absence. Supervision Received: Supervision from the Director of Infection Control. Working Conditions: Hospital environment. Requires walking and sitting. Exposure to infections. Requires transportation to all offsite locations. OSHA: Bloodborne Pathogen Category I Employees in this job description are expected to have contact with bloodborne pathogens and as such they are required to be oriented and annually trained under the Federal Occupational Safety and Health Administration''s Bloodborne Pathogen Standard (CFR 1910.1030)
