Job Duties

The Clinical Nurse V is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with educational preparation at a minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing that includes the five components of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role (practitioner, educator, administrator/manager, consultant, researcher). In addition, the CNS is certified by the California Board of Registered Nursing to practice as a CNS. The CNS demonstrates a high degree of professional competence in a specialized field of nursing and utilizes advanced theoretical and empirical knowledge and a scientific approach to problem solving. The CNS establishes standards for patient care and evaluates interventions to improve care. Emphasis on the role components is dependent upon the patient population and the clinical and administrative functions/needs of the unit, Department of Nursing and UCLA HealthSystem. Experience in adult and geriatric psychiatric nursing required.

Job Qualifications

Graduated from an accredited school of nursing. MSN in nursing required with a specialization as a Clinical Nurse Specialist. California CNS certification and National Certification in area of specialty. CA RN License. Geriatric or adult psychiatric experience as an RN or CNS required.
