Job Duties

The Perinatal Clinical Nurse V is a Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) with educational preparation at a minimum of a Master's degree in Nursing that includes the five components of the Clinical Nurse Specialist role (practitioner, educator, administrator/manager, consultant, researcher). In addition, the CNS is certified by the California Board of Registered Nursing to practice as a CNS. The Perinatal CNS exemplifies the professional practice model for staff to insure the perinatal standards of care are sustained. The OB CNS collects, analyzes and evaluates obstetric quality measures for mandated reporting (eg. CMQCC, HSC, PAC/LAC, DPH, Leapfrog, etc) to use for improving standards for patient care and evaluates interventions to improve care. Major duties include evaluation and sustaining excellence in staff performance, perinatal patient outcome quality measures and community outreach and collaboration with the Obstetric division in the OB/GYN Department, Dept of OB Anesthesia and NICU.

Job Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited School of Nursing. Current licensure as a Registered Nursing in the State of California. Masters Degree prepared in Nursing with CNS specialty required, with 3-5 years of recent clinical experience in area of specialization, Perinatal Nursing . Must be certified by the California Board of Registered Nursing as a Clinical Nurse Specialist.
