Job Duties

Works under the general direction of Director of Nursing and Operations PTU/PACU and AN II of the unit, the primary responsibilities of the clinical nurse include the direct nursing care of patients utilizing the nursing process; development and application of leadership, management, and communication concepts; teaching of patients and staff; maintenance of professional standards. , the staff RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for a group of patients for a designated time frame and provides care to these patients via the nursing process and other input from healthcare team members; Completes assessment and admission of patients requiring surgical procedures or treatments including appropriate consents. Provides Phase I and Phase II assessment, intervention and evaluation of patients from admission to discharge. Responsible for coordination of patient care, facilitates and supports the AN II in the provision of efficient patient flow, problem solving and intervention as indicated. Adheres to all aspects of management and leadership as described in Clinical Nurse II Role description. Participates in committees dealing with topics concerning management of patient care. Participates in promoting professional growth and development of personnel. Reports employee performance and staff morale issues to the AN II. Supports the department's philosophy and objectives. Administrative and teaching responsibilities to be performed as necessary, including inventory, instrument set-ups and chart reviews. Implement appropriate nursing interventions on a consistent basis, relevant to an operating room arena. Function as a member of a team.

Job Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of nursing, current active California RN licensure and clinical skills applicable to nursing. Writing skills to accurately document all assessments and interventions. Skills in setting priorities, organizing workload effectively and integrating multiple assignments with multilevel personnel. Skill in speaking the English language with excellent medical/surgical terminology. Ability to complete a Nursing physical assessment Skill in developing a plan of care including setting goals, monitoring and documenting progress. Ability to implement interventions that are pertinent to goals established in the plan of care. Ability to evaluate the effective of interventions toward the attainment of established goals and to recognize the need to reassess or reset goal parameters. Ability to delegate tasks in a management style that is consistent with promoting leadership and teamwork. Knowledge base to provide education to patients, families, and other staff regarding clinical and patient care issues. Ability to comply with department standards inclusive of: attendance, dress code and varied work schedule. Must pass a post offer physical . Required: California Registered Nursing License, BCLS, PALS and ACLS. Previous experience in an outpatient surgery center PACU area preferred. At least 2 years of ICU experience.
