DIRECTOR OF NURSING
Long Term Care center in suburban Philadelphia is seeking a hands on leader to direct the operations and staff of the nursing department. Develops and maintains a comprehensive and high quality nurse’s services program. Collaborates with the Administrator to establish annual goals and objectives which are designed to ensure quality care and which ensure compliance with various operating policies and procedures. Ensures compliance with the Pennsylvania Department of Health and CMS regulations and various other regulatory requirements. Provides exceptional customer service to residents and employees. Fosters an environment focused on team work and quality care.
Directs and manages nursing care for all residents to provide individualized care which encourages each resident’s ability to maintain or attain the highest practical physical, mental and psychosocial well-being. Oversees the care planning process including the development of appropriate interim and permanent care plan procedures. Develops processes that insure preventive measures, medications, treatments, and other health services are properly prescribed, carried out, and recorded. Shares the responsibility for overseeing quality assurance, infection control, medical records, incident reporting, medical supplies, staff orientation, and education. Reviews reports regarding these areas and makes appropriate recommendations for corrective action.
Ensures completion of MDS capturing appropriate documentation. Ensures that all necessary documentation is being accomplished; i.e., reviews the documentation of the nursing personnel to insure it is correct and complete, assists in revising, designing, and choosing the forms used. Reviews reports and makes recommendations or provides assistance regarding care and treatments.
Takes an active role in the training and development of nursing department staff. Ensures new employees receive a comprehensive orientation. Organizes and conducts the monthly meetings for the nursing staff.
Meets with resident/family members regarding nursing issues and concerns; answers questions and solves problems; investigates and responds to complaints initiated by residents, staff, or family members in a timely manner if nurse managers aren’t available.
Current Pennsylvania license to practice as a registered nurse. Graduate of an approved school of nursing required; BSN highly desired. A minimum of five years consistent experience in a director or nursing or assistant director of nursing role required.
Excellent interpersonal relations and communicative skills with the ability to lead, mentor and teach staff; thorough knowledge of current federal and state regulations; knowledge of drug interactions, side effects, and incompatibilities; decision-making skill; delegating skill; excellent assessment skills; demonstrated management and supervisory skills with a willingness to roll up your sleeves and work with staff.
