Department:Emergency PIMC (3200)

** This is a per diem position; you must live at Friday Harbor**


Responsible for assisting professional nursing personnel in providing quality, compassionate patient care within scope of certification by performing tasks involving direct and indirect patient care, treatment and maintenance of the nursing unit using skills and knowledge in basic nursing procedures and techniques.


1. Provides protective care to patients who are confused and who are at risk of harming themselves or others.

2. Under the direction of the RN, perform basic technical skills within the scope of the CNA I certification.

3. Provide transport support to various departments.

4. Performs other duties as assigned.



High school diploma or equivalent required. 
Graduate of a Certified Nursing Assistant program required.


Minimum of one year experience in an acute care facility preferred. 
Completion of hospital approved training program designed to deal with patients who are acting out in a violet manner.  Program to be completed within 8 weeks of hire.
Demonstrated knowledge of and ability to apply age specific principles of growth and development and life stages to meet each patient’s needs.


Current Certified Nursing Assistant certification level as required by state of Washington.
Current BLS (Basic Life Support) certification required at date of hire.


Demonstrates a courteous, caring, and understanding attitude towards patients, families, co-workers, visitors, volunteers, peers, and physicians. 
Must be well organized, flexible and able to function effectively and independently as assigned. 
Ability to work in a fast-paced environment
Demonstrates creative problem solving skills.
Excellent communication skills
Basic computer skills

Peace Island Medical Center:

Will perform environmental services, security assistance and emergency response duties as needed.
Requires BART training (de-escalation training) within 30 days of hire.
Requires a Food Handler’s Permit.
