Serving as a key position of the interdependent team, the Labor and Delivery RN is responsible for achieving positive patient and unit outcomes. The Labor and Delivery RN coordinates the care of low and high risk laboring women of childbearing age and the immediate stabilization of the newborn following delivery. The RN is responsible for comprehensive assessment of patient and family needs, identification of outcomes based on the needs assessment, establishing care plans, monitoring the progress of laboring patients and modification of the plan of care as needed. Demonstrates commitment to the service excellence principles of the Northside Hospital. The Labor and Delivery RN communicates effectively with patient/family, physicians, the interdependent team and other disciplines regarding plan of care. Identifies and documents needs of the patient and family and provides individualized education. The Labor and Delivery RN participates in the development and achievement of unit goals and coordinates the interdependent team while promoting collaborative teamwork and cooperation. The RN performs all other related duties as assigned. The Labor and Delivery nurse provides intrapartum, antepartum and intraoperative patient care.

Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing. Demonstrated proficiency in skills applicable to Women's Services. At least 1 year of Labor and Delivery RN experience in a hospital setting. Certified in cardio pulmonary resuscitation (CPR). Neonatal Resuscitation (NRP) preferred. *LNKD
