Description

The Registered Nurse is a licensed professional able to demonstrate the following core competencies: assessment, technical skills, communication, critical thinking, interpersonal skills, planning, intervention, evaluation, flexibility, organizational skills, professional accountability, leadership and service. Delivers patient family centered care in a culturally competent manner utilizing evidence based practice standards of quality, safety and service. The RN ensures quality and appropriateness of care for all age groups in the unit specific patient population in include neonates, children, adolescents, adults, and geriatrics. He/She demonstrates an ability to incorporate knowledge of patient’s age, growth and developmental level into the provision of care.

South Miami’s brand new Emergency Center, custom designed by medical professionals to maximize quality and timeliness of care, houses 27 emergency beds, including 22 private rooms and a 5 bed area created to treat patients with minor wounds and illnesses.  Our rooms feature built-in electronic intensive care (eICU) systems that allow an intensivist and specially trained critical care nurses to monitor patients’ medical conditions electronically 24-hours a day, adding an extra set of highly-trained eyes and ears to assist bedside caregivers.

Located within the Emergency Center is also the Heart Attack Unit, accredited by the Society of Chest Pain.  The heart attack team, available 24 hours a day, strives to assess patients quickly and provide the live-saving care they need, including interventional treatment such as cardiac catheterization.  They consistently perform angioplasty in less than 60 minutes of a patient’s arrival at the Emergency Center — surpassing American Heart Association guidelines of 90 minutes or less. 


Qualifications

Graduate of an accredited school of Nursing; Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) preferred. All Associate Degree nurses hired must agree to achieve their BSN degree within 3 years of start date. Must be licensed in the State of Florida as a Registered Nurse. BLS required. PALS, NRP and/or ACLS required per departmental standards. The ideal candidate will have at least 1 year of experience in a fast paced Emergency Room setting and/or 1 year of Critical Care experience.
