The Polysomnographic Therapist/Technician II:
The Polysomnographic Therapist/Technician II develops competency in and performs polysomnographic testing, analysis, and associated interventions under the general oversight of a Registered Polysomnographic Technologist (RPSGT) and/or the clinical director (MD, PhD, DO), or designee. The Polysomnographic Therapist/ Technician II must be able to work independently and provide individualized customer service to patients, families, physicians, and staff. The Therapist must be able to serve as a resource for Polysomnographic Technician I position and provide clinical support when needed. The technician must satisfy BRPT eligibility criteria and achieve registry within twelve months from completing departmental orientation. The technician is also responsible for assisting in and participating in the department performance improvement projects as directed.
High School Diploma or GED required.
Respiratory therapy licensure(CRT,RRT)OR
Registered Polysomnographic Therapists(RPSGT)OR
Registered Electroneurodiagnostic Therapists(R.EEGT)OR
Registered Emergency Medical Technician(NEMT)
Registry must be obtained when all requirements are achieved (within 90 days of hire)
On Job Training:
six months minimum of paid clinical experience as Polysomnography tech.
A graduate of a CAAHEP PSG program and must obtain registry by the board of Polysomnography (BRPT) within 6 months of DOH.
