JOB SUMMARY: Assist in providing primary pediatric care to children and adolescents in an ambulatory setting under the direction of the Nurse Manager, Charge Nurse and Medical Director. Cross cover in other sections or departments if necessary.
Skills and Abilities: Must be able to demonstrate the knowledge and skills necessary to provide care based on physical, psychological, developmental, social, educational, safety, and related criteria, appropriate to the age of the patients served in their section. Accurate weights, heights, head circumferences, blood pressure, urine dip, finger stick for hemocue or blood sugar, injections (immunizations and other medications identified per department), phlebotomy, hearing and vision testing, effective interpersonal oral and written communication skills, document in electronic health record and respond to unpredictable situations in a calm manner while exercising good judgment.
Training and Education: High School graduate, General Equivalency Diploma (GED), Current Pennsylvania Practical Nurse License and CPR certification required by the American Heart Association.
Experience:One-year pediatric experience in inpatient or outpatient ambulatory setting preferred.
Supervisory Responsibility: None
Required Certifications: Current Pennsylvania Practical Nurse License and CPR Certification by the American Heart Association.
