Oversight responsibility for facility-wide infection prevention and control program. This role will direct others within the entity towards process improvements that support the reduction of healthcare acquired infections. Position provides leadership for development and implementation of a hospital-wide infection prevention and control plan, leads the activities of the Infection Prevention and Control Committee, educates other practitioners on the system-based causes for infections, consults with management and staff, develops and implements evidence-based programs that support effective infection prevention and control strategies.
Ultimately, the infection preventionist is responsible for integrating the infection prevention and control program into all applicable organization components/functions by way of consultation, participation at meetings, and the establishment of effective communication and reporting systems with hospital leaders and associates.
- A degree in clinical related (RN, Med Tech or other Clinical Specialty) with infection control experience
- Prefer MSN, MPH or other associated masters degree
work experience requirements-
- Three years of clinical experience
- Knowledge in epidemiological principles, infectious diseases, and sterilization, sanitation and disinfection practices.
- Knowledge in adult education principles and patient care practices.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving, statistical and analytical ability
- A working knowledge of Microbiology and/or experience with epidemiology.
- Valid licensure/Certification as per your clinical area of specialty in the state of Colorado
- Certification in Infection Control upon hire or within 6 months of eligibility as defined by the APIC standards.
