The Admissions Nurse is a registered nurse and an Interdisciplinary Team Member whose primary responsibility is to present VITAS services and philosophy to patients and families in a manner that results in the admission of appropriate patients.  This position is based out of the main office located in Walnut Creek, CA.


Our Admission Nurses may be placed in skilled nursing facilities, assisted living facilities, retirement centers and home care as neede to perform patient/family hospice admissions.

  • Qualified candidates must have a minimum of two (2) years working experience as a Registered Nurse.
  • Must be currently licensed as a RN in the State of California.  
  • Knowledge of clinical manifestations of diseases and ability to develop VITAS specific clinical knowledge.
  • The full-time Admission Nurse will have a flexible schedule with the ability to work Monday-Friday, Tuesday-Saturday or Sunday-Thursday on eight (8) hour shifts.  Shifts include 10am-6pm, 11am-7pm or 12pm-8pm.
  • Must be able to perform patient/family admissions in Northern Alameda and all of Contra Costa County as needed.
  • Qualified candidates will reside in either Northern Alameda or Contra Costa County in order to respond to patient/family needs in a timely manner.
  • Bachelor's degree preferred from an accredited college/university with consideration also given to international equivalent.
  • ADN required.
  • Previous oncology experience preferred.
  • Previous sales experience preferred.
