Establishes accounts with accurate demographic and financial information to produce a clean claim to the third party payor. Ensures that all compliance forms are appropriately completed and documented on the patient's account. Efficiently coordinates registrations/admissions Emergency Department patients with the physicians, nursing staff and other hospital personnel according to diagnosis, medical condition and physician orders. Staff member is responsible for knowing the location of all hospital/physician clinics and inpatient units in order to appropriately guide customers. Front line staff is the first impression for the Hospital so excellent customer skills are required of the staff member. Other duties as assigned.
Knowledge of medical terminology and previous experience with a data entry system as normally required through one-year experience in a health care environment is preferred.
High School diploma or equivalent is required.
Completion of 1-2 years of college is preferred.
Accurate data entry skills are critical. 40 wpm is required. Interpersonal skills and excellent customer service skills are necessary to appropriately deal with patients and/or family members in stressful and difficult situations. Ability to assist patients into wheelchairs and transport patients in wheelchairs from the lobby to the Admitting Office.
Prefer 45 plus wpm.
