The Registered Nurse (RN) is a practitioner who is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients in the Clinical Cancer Center. This individual demonstrates competency in the coordination and delivery of care to hematology and oncology patients in the multidisciplinary Cancer Center Clinics. This Registered Nurse job description has incorporated the 17 essential functions of the job description which are adapted from the ANA Nursing: Scope and Standards of Practice, 2nd Edition (2010), and the Statement on the Scope and Standards of Oncology Nursing Practice from the Oncology Nursing Society (2004). Other duties as assigned.
A minimum of 1 year of direct patient care in an oncology setting, or 2 years direct patient care in a medical/surgical setting is required.
Professional knowledge of nursing theory and practice at a level normally acquired through completion of education at an accredited School of Nursing in order to be eligible for licensure as a Registered Nurse is required.
Bachelor's Degree in Nursing is preferred.
Requires current state of Wisconsin Registered Nurse License or a Multi-state Nursing License from a participating state in the NLC (Nurse Licensure Compact). American Heart Association (AHA) Basic Life Support for the Healthcare Provider (BLS) or an AHA approved equivalent is required within 30 days.
ONS Chemotherapy/Biotherapy Certification required within 12 months of hire; OCN certification (or other applicable nursing speciality certification) strongly encouraged within 2 years of hire.
