Job Details:
Primarily responsible for the delivery of coordinated nursing care for a patient or an assigned group of patients within an assigned unit and for the day-to-day management and supervision of the related clinical activities. Coordinates plan of care with the client, their family and the interdisciplinary team. Also responsible for supervising and responsibly directing the activities of various levels of assigned nursing and ancillary personnel, utilizing both professional and supervisory discretion and independent judgment. Understands and adheres to the California Nurse Practice Act, The American Nurses Association (ANA) Code of Ethics for Nurses, the ANA Bill of Rights for Registered Nurses and the ANA Scope and Standards of Practice for Nursing.

Responsible for functioning independently within the priority matrix and establishing a self-directed workload. Responsible for responding to all trauma team activations, performing as the control nurse and scribe, and accompanying the patient to definitive care. Serves as the nurse member of the rapid response team, responding to Rapid Response Team activations. Uses critical thinking and assessment skills to serve as a resource to colleagues and assist with emergency/urgent patient care needs throughout the facility. The Registered Nurse shall be responsible for the observation and direction of patient lifts and mobilization and shall participate as needed in patient handling. Follows Palomar Health rules, policies, procedures, applicable laws, and standards. Carries out the mission, vision, values, and quality commitment of Palomar Health.

Job Requirements

Minimum Education:As required by certification and/or licensure
Preferred Education:Bachelor's Degree in Nursing
Minimum Experience:3 - 5 years Critical Care experience or
2 years Critical Care AND 2 years Emergency Department in a Level I/II Trauma Center
Preferred Experience:5 years Critical Care
5 years Emergency Department in a Level I/II Trauma Center
Required Certification:American Heart Association recognized Advanced Cardiac Life Support within 3 months of hire
American Heart Association recognized BLS - Healthcare Provider
Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) within 6 months of hire
Trauma RN Core Curriculum (TNCC) within 3 months of hire
Preferred Certification:Certification in specialty area of practice or role
Required License:Current CA RN License
Preferred License:Not Applicable
